Center #

in Krakow

The Malopolska Region and the Municipality of Krakow are implementing the "Construction of the Music Center in Krakow" project. The goal of the investment is to create a modern facility that meets the cultural hopes of Krakow residents and the expectations of future users.

The Music Center will be a complex with the highest urban, architectural and functional-utility qualities. Together with the City Park and complementary recreational and service infrastructure, they will create a unique and coherent whole which will become a "music district of the city".

A modern and ecological building is to provide optimal conditions for work for three orchestras – the Karol Szymanowski Philharmonic in Krakow, Sinfonietta Cracovia and Capella Cracoviensis, as well as for their artistic, cultural and educational activities.

The investment is to be located at Skrzatów Street, on post-military grounds in the Grzegórzki District, in the immediate vicinity of the Kurlandzki Boulevard, which will contribute to the revitalization of the area and create a space for social activities. The degraded and isolated area, located in the city center, will be restored to its residents and guests, and the Grzegórzki District will gain a new social, cultural and economic value.

The Marshal's Office of the Malopolska Region and the Municipality of Krakow in cooperation with the Association of Polish Architects, branch in Krakow, announced a competition for the urban and architectural concept of the Music Center and City Park in Krakow in August 2018.

The results of the competition were announced on November 25, 2018. Experts evaluated nine proposals admitted to the competition. Among them, the best project was developed by a Polish-Italian team, SBS Engineering Group from Krakow and 3TI Progetti Italia - Ingegneria Integrata SPA from Rome.
